GedFamilies facilitates the transfer of GEDCOM files to iOS devices, such as iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, allowing users to access and edit their genealogical data on the go. The application offers a range of functionalities:

 <li>Support for GEDCOM 5.5.1 and various custom tags</li>
 <li>Compatibility with ASCII, ANSI, ANSEL, and UTF-8 character sets</li>
 <li>Ability to manage multiple family files</li>
 <li>Option to create new family files from scratch</li>
 <li>Views available include Family View, Pedigree View, Descendant View, and Timeline</li>
 <li>An index searchable by Given Name, Surname, or ID</li>
 <li>Capability to outline relationships among family members</li>
 <li>Documentation of events and facts related to individuals</li>
 <li>Integration of sources for data verification</li>
 <li>Management of locations and addresses, including geolocation support via Maps</li>
 <li>Feature for alternate names</li>
 <li>Picture management, allowing users to add photos directly from the camera or photo library</li>
 <li>Support for documents and audio files</li>
 <li>Flexible viewing options in both portrait and landscape modes across all views</li>
 <li>Full screen support specifically designed for the iPad</li>
</ul>

The application is built on a highly efficient database implementation, capable of handling very large family files.

To transfer family files between your device and PC, GedFamilies requires either a Wi-Fi network or a USB connection via iTunes. The USB option utilizes iTunes File Sharing, necessitating iOS version 3.2 or higher.

A companion program, GedFamilies Sync, is required for file transfers, which can be downloaded at no cost from <a href="https://www.telgen.co.uk/gedfamilies">www.telgen.co.uk/gedfamilies</a>.

A sample family file is included with the application.

User support and information exchange are facilitated through a dedicated forum available at <a href="https://www.telgen.co.uk/gedfamilies/forum">www.telgen.co.uk/gedfamilies/forum</a>.
